Advance America Donates School Supplies to Community Group in Michigan
As part of this year's Give Back to School Program, Advance America recently donated a shipment of school supplies to a nonprofit group supporting Detroit's underserved eastside neighborhood.
Mack Alive is a community organization dedicated to creating a safe environment and advancing the growth and development of the neighborhood and its residents. Founded by Michigan State Rep. Alberta Tinsley-Talabi, Mack Alive offers tutoring and mentorship programs and employment and entrepreneurial training, in addition to leading community clean-up efforts. Our Company has previously partnered with Mack Alive to support its Buddies in Business: A Passport to Success initiative - a six-week summer program that teaches local teens entrepreneurship and management skills, business etiquette, financial literacy and drug awareness. Team members from our Mack Avenue center have also participated in Mack Alive's annual parade.
Advance America donated nearly 5,000 school supplies to Mack Alive, including three-ring binders, notebooks, pens, pencils and backpacks.
"Mack Alive does outstanding work to support the education and upward mobility of Detroit's underserved residents," said Ron Hicks, senior director of community outreach. "We are proud to partner with an organization that continues to make a significant positive impact in our shared community."
Advance America's community outreach efforts are a critical component of its mission to serve our customers and meet their evolving needs. They play a key role in supporting business goals by helping the Company generate goodwill in local communities, reach and educate elected officials, connect to new and existing customers, and build relationships with business partners.
