Advance America Collects 27.5K Donations for Hunger Action Month
As part of our ongoing commitment to give back to our local communities, Advance America held a month-long food drive during Hunger Action Month. Every September, Hunger Action Month raises awareness and encourages action on the issue of hunger.
Advance America donates 27,557 food items
Through a combination of food donations and volunteer hours, the month-long campaign achieved remarkable results, with participants at Advance America store locations across 22 states stepping up in a major way.
Hunger Action Campaign highlights
- Total items collected: 27,557
- Total volunteer hours: 441.75
- Organizations supported: 244
The Cullman, Ala., store location led the charge by collecting the most items — an impressive 880 – to support Feeding Families of Alabama.
Meanwhile, Advance America in Duncanville, Texas, and Bogalusa, La., tied for donating the most volunteer hours, with each contributing 16 hours of service in September to the Salvation Army and Bogalusa Help Center respectively.

- Florida: 5,993 items, 143 volunteer hours
- Alabama: 3,486 items, 24 volunteer hours
- Texas: 3,142 items, 163 volunteer hours
- California: 1,928 items, 8 volunteer hours
- Louisiana: 1,555 items, 54.75 volunteer hours
