Restoring My Confidence and Independence

I was going through a divorce in which my now ex-husband was on drugs and abandoned the family. My confidence in myself was extremely low as I was trying to get my son started in college and find before and after care for my 5 year old. My yard needed to be cut, but I did not know how and did not have a lawn mower and no money to buy one. My friend Morris found me a lawn mower dirt cheap, brought it over my house one Saturday after we had worked overtime. He went with me to Lowe's to get a wheel for the one that was warped. he put it on and taught me how to use the mower. He had no idea that this small thing would give me back my independence and restore my confidence in my ability to move forward. I could help myself after feeling helpless for over a year. Since then he has helped me paint my kitchen and living room and just a week ago cleaned my carpet in my home while I was helping him with his resume. Morris never asks for anything other than friendship. Morris and his wife have become family to me. My confidence has grown from just being able to cut my own grass to the point that I now do alot of home improvement things, like laying tile, myself. Morris never hesitates to cut the grass of his elderly neighbors or anything asked of him ever. He could never understand the difference that that simple act of kindness made in my abilty to move forward. He is always there for me. His friendship is invaluable.
