My Man
Charles is my boyfriend and we have been together for 6 and a half years. We started dating when my oldest boy was 6 weeks old, he took him in like his own. My son's natural father is not in the picture, so this means alot to both my son and I. We now have two boys together and including his other two we have a total of 5 children. He has never given up on me and even though we have hard times we are still making it strong.

Sisterly Love
In my life, there weren't many people that I could really depend on talking to when times of crisis occurred. I had a good life and was overly happy about everything, but when my parents divorced it tore my family apart and made me depressed. It wasn't only that, but many unfair and hurtful things happened throughout my life. One other thing in my life that caused a bit of a split between my family and I was my relationship with a half Caucasian and half African American young man. I loved him

Liitle-Big Sister
My story is about my best friend, my "little-big" sister. She is 3 years younger than me and most modest. Although her story is remarkable, she says she admires me most instead. We were raised in an extremely low-income society but both taught to be strong, smart females. At such a young adolescent age she was led into a world of desolation by a manipulative boyfriend. She had been lied to, cheated on, verbally and physically abused. She was made to feel like an ugly person and turned into something

My best friend
My best friend is my husband. He is there through it all the surgeries I have had since we have been married. The lean times and the full times. Couldn't ask for a better person to be there for me than him.

My First Call
I can't count the number of times my friend Scott has come to my rescue on more than one occasion. His caring and generous nature know no bounds. One example of this came in the summer of 2006. During that summer I found myself traveling across country to two different conventions. During the last leg of my trip, I lost my wallet leaving me nearly 800 miles from home with no money, low on gas and no place to stay for the night. I was a couple of hours from Scott's home in Iowa when I realized

Restoring My Confidence and Independence
I was going through a divorce in which my now ex-husband was on drugs and abandoned the family. My confidence in myself was extremely low as I was trying to get my son started in college and find before and after care for my 5 year old. My yard needed to be cut, but I did not know how and did not have a lawn mower and no money to buy one. My friend Morris found me a lawn mower dirt cheap, brought it over my house one Saturday after we had worked overtime. He went with me to Lowe's to get

My Wifey
My wife has impacted me more than anybody else in my life. She has kept me from overspending and has taught me how to get on a budget. My wife has been there for me to comfort and encourage when I have had business failures and when I have come home stressed out from a day of work. My wife is my prayer partner, my lover, and my biggest support. I could not succeed in this thing called life without her!

A Mother's Love
At a funeral, expressions of love in the form of flowers are poured out in abundance. Across the altar, atop the casket, flowers represent the beauty of the love that we share for the person who has passed away. My family likes to quote the phrase, “I’ll take my flowers while I’m living,” meaning that we choose to celebrate and honor each other not just in death, but in life. I want to give my mother her flowers while she’s living and share exactly how she has been there for me.

A Sister and a Mother
When I was eleven years old I lost my mother to breast cancer. Being the youngest in my family, I was the epitome of a momma's boy. My oldest sibling, Simon, had just graduated high school and was on his way to the University of Minnesota. My other sibling, Sarah, had just finished her freshman year in High School. This story is about her, and the incredible strength, support, and wisdom that she shared with me, helping me develop into the person I am now all while she was making changes

Bitter Sweet
My story is about a young man who was in a car accident in December of 2000 that resulted in a traumatic brain injury. His future looked very dim. He was pronounced brain dead and doctors said "if he lived he would be nothing more than a vegetable". Over the past eight years he has fought and struggled to regain what he once was in a world that has not always been so nice. Many times he has been falsely judged as being "high or intoxicated" and at times even being called "retarded". What’s
