Advance America Donates $5,000 to Mentoring Program

LANSING, Michigan – Advance America recently donated $5,000 to the Winning Futures mentoring program for its work in Highland Park, State Senator Martha G. Scott announced today.
“I am delighted that Advance America has decided to make this investment in mentoring and in Highland Park,” Senator Scott said. “Mentoring has proven over and over again to be vital in the positive growth and development of young people, and I am grateful to Advance America for helping Winning Futures continue its good work.”
Senator Scott hosted an informational breakfast about Winning Futures on Friday, January 16, at DTE Energy headquarters in Detroit. Advance America, which has a branch in Highland Park, was among the Highland Park and Detroit area businesses attending the breakfast, where it made the check presentation. Mr. Ron Hicks, Director of Michigan Government Affairs, and Mr. Willie Green, Director of Corporate Development & Community Outreach, presented the check to Ms. Kristina Marshall, President & CEO of Winning Futures.
Winning Futures, a non-profit organization, began in 1994 and has been working with children in Highland Park for the past five years. It has been named Innovative Mentoring Program of the Year by Governor Jennifer Granholm. More information is available at www.winningfutures.org.
